SUMMARY:"Wool and Wolf - The Power of Truth in Tempestuous Times" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to live in truth? When Mark Carney addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year\, he challenged the world’s leaders to face the future with clear sight\, to not let the wool be pulled over their eyes any longer about the state of the world. He referenced one of the most powerful political manifestos written in the last century–The Power of the Powerless by Václav Havel. Havel\, a playwright\, became one of Czechoslovakia’s leading dissidents under the “post-totalitarian” rule of its socialist government. In an environment of suppressed speech and secret police\, Havel told the truth about life under dictatorship. He also warned that the West might need to hear his words at some point. Now seems like an opportune time to explore Havel’s work\, seeking in it both political wisdom and spiritual wisdom to help guide us through uncertain times.

SUMMARY:"Returning to Ourselves: Recovering Spirit After Stress and Trauma" by Sean Jeung
DESCRIPTION:When stress or trauma knocks us off-center\, it can feel like our inner life goes quiet—or goes into overdrive. In this reflection\, you explore what “recovery of spirit” can look like after we’ve been overwhelmed: how we begin to reweave a sense of steadiness\, meaning\, and wholeness. Rather than rushing toward a tidy resolution\, the focus is on compassionate realism—honoring what happened\, noticing what we carry\, and making space for the small steps that support healing. Listeners can expect a gentle\, grounded exploration of how we return to ourselves\, and how community and care can be part of that return.

SUMMARY:The Year of the Fire Horse: Grounding\, Guidance\, and the Spirit of Motion
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a unique in-person experience marking the arrival of the Year of the Fire Horse — a rare and dynamic cycle known for its transformative energy\, creative disruption\, and invitation to personal sovereignty. \nThis gathering begins with a grounding meditation to align body\, breath\, and awareness in the present moment. We’ll explore the deeper symbolism and energetic themes of the Fire Horse archetype\, reflecting on what it invites in terms of movement\, renewal\, and inner alignment during this pivotal year ahead. \nFollowing that\, a live channeling will offer messages from what is known as the greater Horse Ancestor Consciousness — an ancestral field carrying the wisdom of instinct\, rhythm\, and relational strength from horse ancestors and their keepers. These transmissions will offer insight for navigating the year with clarity and courage\, drawing on both ancient memory and present coherence. \nYou’ll leave with grounded tools\, an intuitive perspective\, and a felt connection to the deeper rhythms that guide and prepare us for the Year of the Fire Horse. \nPresenter / Organizer\nKathy PikeKathy has lived in the Roaring Fork Valley and returns with two beloved horses. She’s an advocate for equine intelligence\, founder of The Academy for Coaching with Horses\, a speaker\, coach\, artist\, nature lover\, and internationally published author of five books and two card decks. \nFee / Cost\n$20 at the door (cash\, Venmo\, or PayPal)

SUMMARY:"The Heresy of Love" by Rev. Zenshin Florence Caplow
DESCRIPTION:On this Sunday of Valentine’s Day weekend\, let’s celebrate the radically inclusive and actually heretical teachings of Universalism. If you go to gatherings of UUs\, you will see t-shirts that say\, “Love at the Center” and “Love the Hell out of This World.” These both come from our Universalist roots. Rev. Zenshin Florence Caplow will invite us to bring this big love into our hearts.

SUMMARY:"Awareness-Based Meditation" by Elliott S. Dacher\, M.D.
DESCRIPTION:What if I told you a hardy resilience was already and always available to you? You may then ask\, “How do I access this?” Let me explain. There are two distinct forms of resilience – psychological and spiritual. These correspond to the two aims of meditation. The first is fostering a healthy human life\, psychological resilience. The second is leaping beyond to a larger fully conscious life\, spiritual resilience.   \nThis program will focus on the second aim of meditation – spiritual realization and the revelation of our innate and unchanging resilience. This requires an awareness-based meditation practice – a traditional approach that is simple\, direct\, effortless\, and yet profound. The great sages say – “how amazing we cannot see what is right there\, right now\, full and complete.” Join me for this discussion and practice that points us towards a true and stable resilience. \nElliott S. Dacher\, M.D. practiced internal medicine for 20 years before redirecting his focus to the inner dimensions of health and healing. He embarked on a second medical education\, studying the philosophies and practices of Eastern healing under the guidance of wise elders in Asia. Dr. Dacher teaches a profound yet effortless non-dual meditation practice. He is the author of five books\, including Aware\, Awake\, Alive and Meditation and Beyond.

SUMMARY:"Why Albert Schweitzer Matters Today" by Paul Andersen
DESCRIPTION:Local author\, journalist\, and naturalist Paul Andersen has been telling Aspen’s story for more than four decades\, chronicling how one small mountain town became a laboratory for big humanist ideas.  In his recent book\, Dr. Schweitzer at the Birth of the Aspen Idea\, Andersen revisits the summer of 1949\, when Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Albert Schweitzer came to Aspen for the Goethe Bicentennial and offered his now-legendary call to “Reverence for Life.”  Seventy-five years later—amid climate crisis\, political polarization\, and compassion fatigue—Paul invites us to explore how Schweitzer’s ethic of deep respect for all beings might guide our choices\, our communities\, and our care for the earth right now. Drawing on vivid local history\, global perspective\, and his own lifelong engagement with Aspen’s evolving “Idea\,” he will weave story and reflection into a conversation about moral courage\, empathy\, and what it means to build a life—and a town—rooted in service. Come meet one of the valley’s most thoughtful voices and rediscover why Schweitzer’s message still has the power to unsettle\, inspire\, and lovingly call us back to our best selves.

SUMMARY:"What Rev. Dr. King Can Teach Us Now" by Rev. Zenshin Florence Caplow
DESCRIPTION:In 1966\, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. addressed hundreds of mostly white Unitarian Universalists. In his speech he said to them\, “There is nothing more tragic than to sleep through a revolution.” What did he mean? And what does this mean for us today\, in a country where those in power are dismantling rights for so many Americans\, rights that were won through decades of courage and sacrifice?

SUMMARY:"Just Because You're Older…" by Rev. Zenshin Florence Caplow
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes people look around a room and say\, disparagingly\, “Everyone here has gray hair.” Or someone attends a demonstration and says\, with discouragement\, “Where are the young people?” Does it matter how old we are? Why? Let’s explore (and deconstruct) ageism in our culture and also ageism in our own hearts and minds.
