SUMMARY:"The Play of Freedom" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:Continuing this month’s exploration of freedom\, we will further investigate the paradox that the deepest form of liberation may begin not with changing the world around us\, but with finding and aligning with its underlying truths. When we are no longer controlled by attachment—whether to pleasure or ideology\, to success or even suffering—we begin to see that freedom is not something given or taken. It is something remembered. Join us as we consider what becomes possible when we stop clinging and start playing in the great unfolding of life.

SUMMARY:"Harriet and Moses: From Hush Harbors to the Far Horizon" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:Freedom is not only a political condition—it is a spiritual practice. This Sunday\, we draw wisdom from two great guides to liberation: Harriet Tubman and Moses. Each walked a path shaped by instinct\, faith\, and an inner transformation that allowed them to lead others toward freedom. From the hidden gatherings of the Hush Harbors to the nomadic seeking of the desert\, we’ll explore how true liberation begins within and is sustained by a vision larger than any one person. Come reflect on the inward journey of courage\, the power of deep knowing\, and the horizon of freedom still calling us home.  Music by Micha Schoepe & Paul Dankers.

SUMMARY:"Stagger Onward Rejoicing": The Power of Poetry to Keep Us Going by Rev. Zenshin Florence Caplow
DESCRIPTION:Stagger onward rejoicing. The poet W\,H. Auden penned these words in 1941\, when he and other poets were “deeply concerned with the worldwide economic depression\, the Spanish Civil War\, the rise of Fascism\, and the beginnings of the Second World War.” W.H Auden was also part of a gay subculture of a number of the most revered poets and writers of his time. Rev. Florence Caplow reflects on recently seeing these words of Auden’s on a house in her new town of Port Angeles\, Washington\, and how poets and poetry can inspire us during times of turmoil\, personal or political. Micha & Paul will bring their inspiring music to the service.

SUMMARY:"Mothers\, Messes\, and Grace" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:Love\, at its best\, is a powerful act of imagination. This Mother’s Day\, we explore how the kind of love many parents feel for their growing children—tender\, hopeful\, forgiving—can be transformational when extended beyond the family. Parental love sees through mess and willfulness to a deeper beauty and potential. What might happen if we applied that same imaginative lens to others—and to ourselves? Without idealizing motherhood or ignoring the complexity of real relationships\, we’ll consider how love guided by imagination can become a form of grace that deepens connection\, fosters healing\, and helps us see one another whole.

SUMMARY:"The Worlds We Imagine" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:Our world is built not only from bricks and steel\, but from stories—from generations of dreams imagined into being. From money to gender\, nations to religions\, much of what we call reality is simply a shared act of belief. But if imagination can build the world\, it can also imprison us within labyrinths of our own creation. This Sunday\, we’ll explore the power of imagination to shape our lives\, for harm and for hope. Through Dr. Seuss\, the science of naming fish\, courtroom dramas\, theatrical productions\, and the courageous journeys of dreamers both fictional and real\, we’ll ask: What will we imagine next—and how may we use that to bring liberation\, love\, and community into ever greater resplendence in our lives?

SUMMARY:"The Triumph of Joy" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:Archimedes said\, “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it\, and I can move the world.” Joy is a pretty long lever\, and if we allow it to\, joy can shift our world. The only trick is understanding where and how the world is planted so we can know where to place the fulcrum. Once we get those little details down\, we can leverage joy on a grand scale and witness the way it makes the world anew. Join us in exploring how the spiritual practice of joy can not only help us through hard times\, but also function as a viable political strategy in these chaotic times.

SUMMARY:"The Rise of Joy" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:Our attention is our dearest wealth and our most potent power. How we invest it determines how we experience the world. If we allow our attention to be consumed by agents of fear\, our fear will grow. If we invest our attention in the solidity and spaciousness of the present moment and look with appreciation on all that is\, our joy will grow. With joy comes love\, comes hope\, comes new possibilities for how we might engage with the world. The portal to bringing joy more fully into your world and thus our world.  Music by Micha & Paul.

SUMMARY:"Trust The Process" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:Life is an ever-unfolding process. It can be deeply discouraging when the process seems to be moving in a negative direction. However\, there can be great power in surrendering to the flow while studying the larger patterns at work. The key is to recognize the rhythms at play and be ready to act at the needful moment. In this service\, we will explore the wisdom of trusting ourselves and our world to deliver us to the places and moments where we can have the greatest impact by being in tune with the unfolding process of life.

SUMMARY:New Member Potluck Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Those who wish to become official Members of our congregation will sign the Membership Book (if they haven’t already done so) and be welcomed by the congregation in a brief ceremony. Membership involves a commitment of time\, talent and treasure — according to each member’s ability to contribute. In turn\, members have the right to vote for Board members and vote on budgets and other church policy matters. Most importantly\, membership means committing to a spiritual community that believes in the worth of every person\, the pursuit of justice and compassion\, and the freedom to explore one’s own beliefs. \nIf you wish to take part in this joining ceremony\, or if you have questions about it\, please contact Sue Coyle or Kathy Feinsinger. \nA potluck luncheon and the traditional coffee hour will follow the service. Please click here to sign up for the category of dish that you would like to contribute.  If the sign up is frustrating for you\, you call Sue Coyle at 970.379.4674 or Kathy Feinsinger at 970.319.2026 to specify your dish of choice or you can also e-mail Paul Dankers and tell him whether you will bring a Salad\, Meat-based Main Dish\, Vegan Main Dish\, Desert\, Bread\, or Other (specify).  And if you can’t bring a dish to pass\, we hope that you will still join us – we always have plenty of food!  We hope you can all attend this important and meaningful event.

SUMMARY:"Including our Shadows" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:The Gospel of Thomas says\, “If you bring forth what is within you\, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you\, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.” We see evidence of this everywhere. When people don’t face their own shadows and instead project them on various enemies and outcasts\, they create a world of war and suffering. Where people accept their own darkness and work to heal it\, transformation occurs. In this service\, we will explore ways to face and integrate our own dark sides\, bringing forth integrity and flourishing as we move toward wholeness.  Stay tuned for thematic music by Micha & Paul.

SUMMARY:"Joy…Despite It All" by Rev. Zenshin Florence Caplow
DESCRIPTION:In this bleakest of winters\, when there is so much to fear and grieve\, can there be joy as well?  And what does “joy” mean\, anyway\, especially now? SUMMARY:"Astral Projection and Interdimensional Travel for the Resolutely Earthbound" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:Building on the idea that we can work with the stories that bind us in order to experience more freedom and possibility in our daily lives\, we will examine the psychological process of projection. SUMMARY:"The World Is Made of Stories" by Rev. Zenshin Florence Caplow
DESCRIPTION:The limits of my language are the limits of my world. – Wittgenstein.  \nIn these times of uncertainty\, how can we find some peace and equanimity? One powerful way is to start to see how our minds are like “storytelling machines”\, and most of the time we believe the stories our minds tell us\, whether those stories are true or not. The Buddhist ecophilosopher David Loy has written a book called The World Is Made of Stories.  In this service we will explore some spiritual practices to loosen up the stories that can bind us\, so we can better meet and respond to these times.  Enjoy thematic music by Ellen Stapenhorst\, Micha Schoepe\, and Paul Dankers.
