Folksinger Steve Brooks – “They Said There’d Be Snow at Christmas”
Date(s) - 12/06/2020
10:00 am - 11:00 am
Two Rivers Unitarian Universalist
Join us for a special musical celebration with Austin folksinger Steve Brooks! Usually one of TRUU’s favorite summer visitors, Steve’s ramblings were hobbled by Covid-19. But we’re pleased to welcome him in an early nod to the holiday season.
As Steve puts it, “All spiritual traditions revere the Winter Solstice, and more any other time of year, we view it through a lens of song.”
Steve performs some favorites from his personal holiday soundtrack to illuminate the many meanings of the season, particularly the play between faith and disillusionment. Why do we resonate with the return of the light, the divine child and peace on earth? How do we reconcile these ideals with the knowledge that in the year to come, we will fall so short? Come prepared to sing along.
