Minister’s Musings

Happy Thanksgiving! I know, first-hand that Thanksgiving is one of those holidays where there is, inevitably, many feelings, from the very sweetest to the most bitter, especially if family is involved. Nothing like putting on a ten course meal while fending off depth charges from your childhood!  There is an American Buddhist saying I often think of at this time: “If you think you’re enlightened, spend the weekend with your family.”! However your Thanksgiving is, I send my blessings and good wishes, and hopes that you will be find ways to be gentle with yourself and those around you. Here is a beautiful Thanksgiving prayer, set to music, from the Benedictine (an Zen inspired monk Brother David:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-LlXHPBhC4. His website, http://www.gratefulness,org, is also inspiring to me.
