SUMMARY:Sunday Worship on "The Practice of Flourishing Together" with Reverend Florence Caplow
DESCRIPTION:Our Soul Matters theme for June is “Flourishing Together.” How do we flourish in community? What weakens the love and connection of community\, and how can we continue to nurture and strengthen our bonds\, both within the congregation and beyond it? How do we find ways to break down the corrosive effects of isolation and loneliness\, so prevalent now? Rev. Florence Caplow will explore these questions and others in our first service in June.\nFor Youtube livestream please visit the Two Rivers Unitarian Universalist page in Youtube.\n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Social Justice Service on the topic of "Preserving Home"
DESCRIPTION:What does housing justice look like when home itself is under threat? On Sunday\, May 31\, TRUU’s Social Justice Fellowship will explore the growing crisis of displacement as wealthy investors purchase mobile home parks and put long-standing residents at risk. Centering the voices of neighbors from Cavern Springs Mobile Home Park — including local organizer Judith Alvarez — this service will invite us into the lived reality of people fighting to remain rooted in community and to pursue resident ownership. Together\, we will learn about the situation\, hear how local residents are responding\, and consider meaningful ways to offer support\, solidarity\, and practical help. Grounded in reflection\, connection\, and the shared human need for safety and belonging\, this service will offer both information and inspiration. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Interspiritual Paradigm
DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION: We are just past the 25th anniversary of the Interspiritual paradigm\, named at the turn of this Century by Br. Wayne Teasdale and four other renowned global interfaith pioneers. Marking this anniversary is a new two volume thematic and chronological history of Interspirituality with contributions by over 120 global interfaith leaders– opening message by His Holiness the Dalai Lama\, Foreword by Matthew Fox (one of the namers of the paradigm) and Afterword by Colorado’s own Ken Wilber. The paradigm is also so familiar to Coloradoans because of the central role of Fr. Thomas Keating\, host of the decades long Snowmass Dialogues from his Snowmass Abbey which resulted in the Nine Points of Agreement Among the World’s Religions. In my sharing we’ll explore what the original interspiritual pioneers envisioned and how things have turned out a bit differently. We’ll also look at the four areas of emphasis for the future that the over 120 contributors to these two new historic volumes suggest is the direction things must go for our world to have a thriving global future. Our discussion will be right in line with your theme for May: Awakening Curiosity – Exploring New Perspectives \nBIO: Kurt Johnson. Rev. Kurt Johnson PhD has worked in professional science and comparative religion for more than fifty years. A well-known author\, and co-founder of the award winning Light on Light Press\, he is one of the editors of the recent two volume series Interspirituality: The Heritage and Interspiritiuality: The Future. A a prominent figure on international committees\, particularly at the United Nations\, he has published over 200 scientific articles and seven books\, including co-authoring or co-editing award winners The Coming Interspiritual Age\, Our Moment of Choice\, Nabokov’s Blues and Fine Lines. Ordained or certified in five spiritual traditions\, Johnson served on the faculty of New York’s One Spirit Interfaith Seminary for fifteen years and was on the staff of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City for twenty-five years. As part of UNITY EARTH and the Interspiritual Dialogue Network he has been a part of major international events for many years\, and co-edits two e-magazines: The Convergence and Light on Light. He also cohosts the ongoing Convergence podcast series\, originally from VoiceAmerica. He serves on core teams of the Evolutionary Leaders\, The Holomovement and Prosocial World. DESCRIPTION:Description:  “We get lost in our thinking\, we believe what we think and we think we’re right. In his book Zen Mind Beginner’s Mind\, Suzuki Roshi writes\, “In the beginner’s mind\, there are many possibilities\, in the expert’s mind\, there are few. The mind of the beginner is empty\, free of the habit of the expert. Ready to accept and open to all the possibilities.” \nWhat this May 10th practice is offering is a really simple and very easy to forget. It is very possible that in the middle of our busy lives we can pause and enter the senses\, when we can do that…then who knows what’s true? \nBio:  Lisa Goddard is the founding teacher of Roaring Fork Insight offers meditation instruction through online group practice\, classes and retreats\, in-person and in nature in the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. She has been practicing meditation since 1997 and has been facilitating these practices since 2002. \nInspired by the teachings of Suzuki Roshi and Ajahn Chah\, Lisa received training through Green Gulch Farm Zen Center\, Spirit Rock Meditation Center\, Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach\, Zen Hospice Project\, Mindful Schools and the Sati Center for Buddhist Studies. She is a Certified Mindfulness Facilitator through UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience & Human Behavior\, trained in Eco-Chaplaincy and is a member of the International Mindfulness Teachers Association. Lisa’s mentoring teacher is Gil Fronsdal\, the founding teacher of Insight Meditation Center Redwood City where she is affiliated as a Community Dharma Leader. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"May Day! May Day!" by Rev. Zenshin Florence Caplow
DESCRIPTION:May Day has many layers of meaning – it is the great pagan fire festival of Beltane; it is “International Workers Day”; it is a distress call (mayday! mayday!); and\, this year\, “May Day Strong\,” a call from labor organizations for “no work\, no school\, no shopping” on May 1st\, in response to what is happening in our country. Rev. Florence Caplow will share a multicolored bouquet of connections inspired by May Day. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"The Spirituality of Star Wars" by Dr. Krista Noble
DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, Dr. Krista Noble will explore the spirituality of Star Wars through the lens of her book\, One with the Force: 18 Universal Truths in Star Wars. She will discuss the Force\, universal consciousness\, meditation\, manifestation\, and how the philosophy of the Jedi applies to everyday life. \nBio:  Dr. Krista Noble is the author of One with the Force: 18 Universal Truths in Star Wars\, published by Bloomsbury in 2024. She is a professor at Maharishi International University\, where she earned her PhD and MA in Consciousness & Human Potential. Dr. Noble has also taught at the Holmes Institute and the University of Philosophical Research. She has presented at international conferences\, universities\, Nerd Nite\, spiritual centers\, meditation centers\, and on various podcasts. \nAdditional information that may be useful: \nMedia links: \nMy website: https://www.kristanoble.com \nMy Amazon author page: https://www.amazon.com/author/kristanoble \nMy Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/krista.noble.92 \nMy LinkedIn page: https://www.linkedin.com/in/krista-noble-ph-d-6a263799/ \nMy YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@kristanoblephd \nSummary of my book:  Why are the Star Wars films so popular? Of course\, viewers love the characters\, the plot\, the music\, and the special effects. However\, there is a deeper reason why these films resonate with audiences: Star Wars contains universal truths—principles that are “true for all time\, all places and all people.” The same principles can be found in religions and philosophies throughout the world\, including the Vedic tradition of ancient India\, Buddhism\, Taoism\, Sikhism\, Judaism\, Christianity\, Islam\, and Native American/First Nations beliefs.  \nIn One with the Force: 18 Universal Truths in Star Wars\, Dr. Krista Noble explores these principles. She delves into a rich array of topics\, from the Force to collective consciousness\, and from enlightenment to immortality. Readers will see that the philosophy of the Jedi doesn’t only apply “in a galaxy far\, far away”; it is also highly relevant to everyday living. Like Luke Skywalker\, we should all look within to discover the deepest truths of life\, pursue our individual destinies\, and strive to reach our full potential as human beings. In these ways\, we can embody the wisdom of the Jedi. \nAdvance praise for my book \n\n “An intriguing addition to Star Wars scholarship\, which reveals the timeless substructure underpinning the space-age saga. If you watched the Star Wars movies with a feeling in your bones that you were seeing something unfold that was not merely the product of modern creative storytellers but something ancient and powerful\, this book will tell you why.”\n\n—Joe Holland\, Instructor of Consciousness & Human Potential\, Maharishi International University \n\n “One with the Force reveals why Star Wars touches the souls of its fans\, showing that this iconic film series has much more to it than meets the eye. Noble’s book expounds on the universal principles in Star Wars that inspire us and sustain the cosmos.”\n\n—Marci Shimoff\, #1 NY Times bestselling author of Happy for No Reason and Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul \n\n “This lucid study takes up a topic dear to my heart—the uses of fiction as a wisdom path—and traces essential principles from South Eastern and other traditions of wisdom and spirit appearing in Star Wars. The parallels mentioned by the author are evocative and even archetypal. The image of a path of spirituality emphasizing balance\, experience\, mindful action\, and unity found in difference speaks strongly to our time of culture wars and increased questioning of traditional creeds.”\n\n—Craig Chalquist\, PhD\, author of Soulmapper \n\n “Krista Noble’s insightful presentation of the Star Wars trilogy highlights and magnifies the inherent nobility of this blockbuster film series\, as she unearths and identifies age-old universal principles of life and living embedded in the story. Noble’s book provides a happy hunting ground for exploring the profound truths of the world’s cultural\, spiritual\, and religious traditions. A magnificent read!”\n\n—Dr. Judy Booth\, retired faculty member and current advisor at Maharishi International University \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Who We Become When It’s “Just Us”
DESCRIPTION:Some of the most important justice work doesn’t happen in public. It happens in the spaces where we feel safe\, unchallenged\, and certain we’re “the good ones.” In this Social Justice service\, we’ll explore a bracing (and strangely freeing) question: who are we becoming when nobody’s watching? Not as a guilt trip\, and not as a performance—more like honest spiritual training for the moments that shape our character: how we speak when it’s comfortable to be sloppy\, how we respond when feedback stings\, how we notice the systems that keep benefiting us even when we don’t “mean” to. \nTogether we’ll practice the shift from defensiveness to accountability\, from optics to integrity\, from “I’m not like those people” to “What am I willing to change—and what am I willing to risk?” Expect a service that is candid\, compassionate\, and practical: more listening than posturing\, more formation than finger-pointing\, and an invitation to grow a sturdier kind of solidarity—one that shows up in real rooms\, on real Tuesdays\, with real choices. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"Woof and Warp - The Weave of What's to Come" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:Why does life\, even at its most abundant\, remain threaded with struggle? This service reflects on the necessity of contrast—light and dark\, ease and tension\, belonging and separation—as essential to growth and meaning. Inspired by forests\, ancient wisdom\, and a brief history of textiles\, we’ll explore the idea that conflict and failure are not aberrations to be avoided\, but crucial strands in the fabric of existence. Rather than seeking escape or resolution\, we’ll consider how living with curiosity\, compassion\, and resilience–as well as with grief\, frustration\, and outrage–may be the richest invitation of our shared human journey. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"Wool and Wolf - The Power of Truth in Tempestuous Times" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to live in truth? When Mark Carney addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year\, he challenged the world’s leaders to face the future with clear sight\, to not let the wool be pulled over their eyes any longer about the state of the world. He referenced one of the most powerful political manifestos written in the last century–The Power of the Powerless by Václav Havel. Havel\, a playwright\, became one of Czechoslovakia’s leading dissidents under the “post-totalitarian” rule of its socialist government. In an environment of suppressed speech and secret police\, Havel told the truth about life under dictatorship. He also warned that the West might need to hear his words at some point. Now seems like an opportune time to explore Havel’s work\, seeking in it both political wisdom and spiritual wisdom to help guide us through uncertain times. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"Returning to Ourselves: Recovering Spirit After Stress and Trauma" by Sean Jeung
DESCRIPTION:When stress or trauma knocks us off-center\, it can feel like our inner life goes quiet—or goes into overdrive. In this reflection\, you explore what “recovery of spirit” can look like after we’ve been overwhelmed: how we begin to reweave a sense of steadiness\, meaning\, and wholeness. Rather than rushing toward a tidy resolution\, the focus is on compassionate realism—honoring what happened\, noticing what we carry\, and making space for the small steps that support healing. Listeners can expect a gentle\, grounded exploration of how we return to ourselves\, and how community and care can be part of that return. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:The Year of the Fire Horse: Grounding\, Guidance\, and the Spirit of Motion
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a unique in-person experience marking the arrival of the Year of the Fire Horse — a rare and dynamic cycle known for its transformative energy\, creative disruption\, and invitation to personal sovereignty. \nThis gathering begins with a grounding meditation to align body\, breath\, and awareness in the present moment. We’ll explore the deeper symbolism and energetic themes of the Fire Horse archetype\, reflecting on what it invites in terms of movement\, renewal\, and inner alignment during this pivotal year ahead. \nFollowing that\, a live channeling will offer messages from what is known as the greater Horse Ancestor Consciousness — an ancestral field carrying the wisdom of instinct\, rhythm\, and relational strength from horse ancestors and their keepers. These transmissions will offer insight for navigating the year with clarity and courage\, drawing on both ancient memory and present coherence. \nYou’ll leave with grounded tools\, an intuitive perspective\, and a felt connection to the deeper rhythms that guide and prepare us for the Year of the Fire Horse. \nPresenter / Organizer\nKathy PikeKathy has lived in the Roaring Fork Valley and returns with two beloved horses. She’s an advocate for equine intelligence\, founder of The Academy for Coaching with Horses\, a speaker\, coach\, artist\, nature lover\, and internationally published author of five books and two card decks. \nFee / Cost\n$20 at the door (cash\, Venmo\, or PayPal) \n\n\n	Related
