SUMMARY:"Woof and Warp - The Weave of What's to Come" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:Why does life\, even at its most abundant\, remain threaded with struggle? This service reflects on the necessity of contrast—light and dark\, ease and tension\, belonging and separation—as essential to growth and meaning. Inspired by forests\, ancient wisdom\, and a brief history of textiles\, we’ll explore the idea that conflict and failure are not aberrations to be avoided\, but crucial strands in the fabric of existence. Rather than seeking escape or resolution\, we’ll consider how living with curiosity\, compassion\, and resilience–as well as with grief\, frustration\, and outrage–may be the richest invitation of our shared human journey. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"Wool and Wolf - The Power of Truth in Tempestuous Times" by Aaron Brown
DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to live in truth? When Mark Carney addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year\, he challenged the world’s leaders to face the future with clear sight\, to not let the wool be pulled over their eyes any longer about the state of the world. He referenced one of the most powerful political manifestos written in the last century–The Power of the Powerless by Václav Havel. Havel\, a playwright\, became one of Czechoslovakia’s leading dissidents under the “post-totalitarian” rule of its socialist government. In an environment of suppressed speech and secret police\, Havel told the truth about life under dictatorship. He also warned that the West might need to hear his words at some point. Now seems like an opportune time to explore Havel’s work\, seeking in it both political wisdom and spiritual wisdom to help guide us through uncertain times. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"Returning to Ourselves: Recovering Spirit After Stress and Trauma" by Sean Jeung
DESCRIPTION:When stress or trauma knocks us off-center\, it can feel like our inner life goes quiet—or goes into overdrive. In this reflection\, you explore what “recovery of spirit” can look like after we’ve been overwhelmed: how we begin to reweave a sense of steadiness\, meaning\, and wholeness. Rather than rushing toward a tidy resolution\, the focus is on compassionate realism—honoring what happened\, noticing what we carry\, and making space for the small steps that support healing. Listeners can expect a gentle\, grounded exploration of how we return to ourselves\, and how community and care can be part of that return. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:The Year of the Fire Horse: Grounding\, Guidance\, and the Spirit of Motion
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a unique in-person experience marking the arrival of the Year of the Fire Horse — a rare and dynamic cycle known for its transformative energy\, creative disruption\, and invitation to personal sovereignty. \nThis gathering begins with a grounding meditation to align body\, breath\, and awareness in the present moment. We’ll explore the deeper symbolism and energetic themes of the Fire Horse archetype\, reflecting on what it invites in terms of movement\, renewal\, and inner alignment during this pivotal year ahead. \nFollowing that\, a live channeling will offer messages from what is known as the greater Horse Ancestor Consciousness — an ancestral field carrying the wisdom of instinct\, rhythm\, and relational strength from horse ancestors and their keepers. These transmissions will offer insight for navigating the year with clarity and courage\, drawing on both ancient memory and present coherence. \nYou’ll leave with grounded tools\, an intuitive perspective\, and a felt connection to the deeper rhythms that guide and prepare us for the Year of the Fire Horse. \nPresenter / Organizer\nKathy PikeKathy has lived in the Roaring Fork Valley and returns with two beloved horses. She’s an advocate for equine intelligence\, founder of The Academy for Coaching with Horses\, a speaker\, coach\, artist\, nature lover\, and internationally published author of five books and two card decks. \nFee / Cost\n$20 at the door (cash\, Venmo\, or PayPal) \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"Awareness-Based Meditation" by Elliott S. Dacher\, M.D.
DESCRIPTION:What if I told you a hardy resilience was already and always available to you? You may then ask\, “How do I access this?” Let me explain. There are two distinct forms of resilience – psychological and spiritual. These correspond to the two aims of meditation. The first is fostering a healthy human life\, psychological resilience. The second is leaping beyond to a larger fully conscious life\, spiritual resilience.   \nThis program will focus on the second aim of meditation – spiritual realization and the revelation of our innate and unchanging resilience. This requires an awareness-based meditation practice – a traditional approach that is simple\, direct\, effortless\, and yet profound. The great sages say – “how amazing we cannot see what is right there\, right now\, full and complete.” Join me for this discussion and practice that points us towards a true and stable resilience. \nElliott S. Dacher\, M.D. practiced internal medicine for 20 years before redirecting his focus to the inner dimensions of health and healing. He embarked on a second medical education\, studying the philosophies and practices of Eastern healing under the guidance of wise elders in Asia. Dr. Dacher teaches a profound yet effortless non-dual meditation practice. He is the author of five books\, including Aware\, Awake\, Alive and Meditation and Beyond. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"Why Albert Schweitzer Matters Today" by Paul Andersen
DESCRIPTION:Local author\, journalist\, and naturalist Paul Andersen has been telling Aspen’s story for more than four decades\, chronicling how one small mountain town became a laboratory for big humanist ideas.  In his recent book\, Dr. Schweitzer at the Birth of the Aspen Idea\, Andersen revisits the summer of 1949\, when Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Albert Schweitzer came to Aspen for the Goethe Bicentennial and offered his now-legendary call to “Reverence for Life.”  Seventy-five years later—amid climate crisis\, political polarization\, and compassion fatigue—Paul invites us to explore how Schweitzer’s ethic of deep respect for all beings might guide our choices\, our communities\, and our care for the earth right now. Drawing on vivid local history\, global perspective\, and his own lifelong engagement with Aspen’s evolving “Idea\,” he will weave story and reflection into a conversation about moral courage\, empathy\, and what it means to build a life—and a town—rooted in service. Come meet one of the valley’s most thoughtful voices and rediscover why Schweitzer’s message still has the power to unsettle\, inspire\, and lovingly call us back to our best selves. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"Hope in the Dark" by Rev. Zenshin Florence Caplow
DESCRIPTION:As we turn toward the winter solstice of this disastrous year\, we will explore themes from the writer\, historian\, and activist\, Rebecca Solnit\, particularly from her book Hope in the Dark and her most recent online writings\, Meditations in an Emergency. Solnit reminds us that “pessimism and despair rest on an unwarranted confidence about what is going to happen next” and reminds us that  “joy doesn’t betray but sustains activism. And when you face a politics that aspires to make you fearful\, alienated and isolated\, joy is a fine act of insurrection.” \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"A Way Worth Walking: Taoism and Wisdom’s Soulful Undulations" by Charis Caldwell\, M.Phil. M.Div.
DESCRIPTION:In our final gathering of the series\, Charis Caldwell shares wisdom insights from Taoism – an ancient tradition that has long emphasised “the Way” as a means of spiritual insight and liberation. What might it look like to walk the Way today\, during a time of year so far removed from stillness and soul? Drawing from the Tao Te Ching\, Charis invites us to glimpse a universal path transcending belief systems: the possibility of wisdom as practice\, presence\, and path. SUMMARY:Fellowship Service on the topic of "Nurturing Gratitude" by Liza Ferrier
DESCRIPTION:In this Fellowship Circle\, we will discuss how we go about feeling grateful for all we have. We regularly remind each other of the beauty of our surroundings; is there more we could do to feel the joy of a grateful heart? \nThis Sunday is a Fellowship Service\, founded in the Unitarian Universalist philosophy of Small Group ministry. We gather with a lay leader in conversations that deepen and expand the ministry of a congregation. Two key focuses are building community and deepening relationships\, and the opportunity for deeper spiritual exploration and search for meaning. This month\, we are exploring Living Love through the spiritual practice of Presence.  Please\, join us! \nPlease Note:  There will be no Zoom or LiveStream and the music will be a cappella \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"Psilocybin and the Last Box of Kleenex" by Paul Dankers
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, November 16\, TRUU Community Steward Paul Dankers will reflect on how moments of loss\, from the everyday to the profound\, can become invitations to gratitude. Drawing from a deeply personal story of his first psilocybin experience and the surprising lessons found in both ordinary objects and popular culture\, Paul explores how practicing gratitude in life’s small endings helps prepare us for larger farewells. Together\, we’ll consider how grief and gratitude are woven inseparably\, and how opening ourselves to both can transform the way we live — and the way we face life’s final chapters. Please note: this reflection includes discussion of psychedelics and may not be suitable for young children. As always\, we offer engaging\, age-appropriate programming for children in a separate space. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"Hidden Wisdom: The Feminine Face of the Divine in Judeo-Christian Traditions" by Charis Caldwell\, M.Phil. M.Div.
DESCRIPTION:The Hebrew Bible and Christian scriptures contain unexpected wisdom—often hidden in plain sight. In this month’s reflection\, Charis Caldwell uncovers the often-overlooked role of “Sophia” (Wisdom) as a divine feminine presence woven throughout Judeo-Christian texts. From the poetic voice of Proverbs to the mystical undertones of early Christian writings\, Charis reveals how wisdom emerges not just as knowledge\, but as relationship—intimate\, embodied\, and sometimes subversive. When faith becomes rigid\, wisdom disrupts. When systems lose compassion\, wisdom protests. With curiosity and care\, we’ll explore how recovering the wisdom tradition within Judeo-Christianity might bring new depth to both spiritual seekers and skeptical exiles. This is not your childhood Sunday School. This is an invitation to meet the Divine in her more elusive\, intuitive\, and fiercely loving form. \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:"Love and Grief" by Rev. Zenshin Florence Caplow
DESCRIPTION:It is sometimes said that grief is just one of the many faces of love. Anyone who has traveled through the valleys and mountains of grief knows that the way is long and hard – and yet\, we only grieve what we have deeply loved. As we approach the holiday season\, old griefs can re-awaken in our hearts. In this gentle fall service we will honor both our love and our grief for those we have lost. \n \n\n\n	Related
