Día de los Muertos Potluck Celebration

Saturday, November 1 — 5:30 PM at the Third Street Center
Join us for a beautiful evening of remembrance and celebration as we honor our loved ones who have passed. Led by Monica Muñiz, this gathering will invite us into the heart of Día de los Muertos — a time to share food, stories, and gratitude for the lives that continue to shape our own.
We’ll begin with a candle-lighting ceremony at 5:30 PM, followed by the community potluck, reflection and music start at 6:30 PM.
Please bring:
-
A favorite dish that reminds you of someone you wish to honor (you’re welcome to include a small note about who it’s in memory of).
-
A photo or memento of a deceased loved one for our communal altar. Ideally, please bring it to Sunday worship on Oct 26, but you may also bring it during setup on Friday, Oct 31 at 1 PM, or even the night of the event. Please include a brief label (e.g., “Lyle Dankers, father of Paul Dankers, July 27, 1936 – Jan 27, 2011”).
Volunteer opportunities:
We’ll need hands to help set up the Community Hall on Friday, Oct 31 at 1 PM, and again afterward on Saturday evening, Nov 1, to restore the space once the celebration ends.
If anyone has an archway or trellis we could borrow as the entry to our altar space, please contact paul@truu.org.
Together, we’ll weave memory, food, music, and love into a night that connects the living and the dead in a spirit of beauty and belonging.
